Japan has big spiders.

Today while taking a forced march I discovered a rather large spider.

I was about 2" in diameter including its legs and I thought it was quite remarkable.

I tried to take a photo but my pocket camera had some trouble focusing on it amongst the bushes. I gave up and about 30 seconds later saw its mom or older brother or something. It was the same species certainly but twice the size. At least 4 inches in diameter including its black and white striped legs.

I had no idea Japan had giant spiders and I certainly did not expect to find them in the city.

I hope I never find one in my house.

I also hope this is the biggest.

I don't know why but I have always gravitated towards staying up late if not being entirley nocturnal.

However being a functioning member of society requires people to be up with the sun despite the 24/7 supermarkets that grace my neighborhood.

If I want to buy something or go to the post office I either have to get up "early" or stay up all night.

Recently however I have been very busy and have tried to reclaim space in my life much like the Kansai Airport.
I have optioned to have a fulll nights sleep only once every 2 nights and on the other days I sleep for between 10 and 120 minutes. However given my somewhat irregular work schedule as well it means I need to be different places at different times. Yesterday was one of those short days. I only slept about 2 hours during the day after staying up alll night and went to bed at 2 or 3 am.

I woke up at 630. I do not know what woke me up. But suddenly I was wide awake and totally unsure if my alarm had gone off earlier. However I totally paniced because I was late for work.

It was sort of light out but as I thought about it it seemed a little too light out.

It was 630am.

I wasn't late.

It seems my facebook account has been deleted/disabled.
Why? I don`t know. I did not get any kind of warning. However when It seems someone probably complained about my photos. The same thing happened on Myspace. I assume pictures of simulated blood are not welcome anywhere. Halloween? Theater? Not important.
Someone probably stumbled upon my page and their fragile mind cracked. I guess I should not have my facebook open to the public.

I have emailed them and asked why. If it is a matter of taking down a zombie photo or 2 I will do it. However if it is a big hassle and I have to make a new account or some bullshit I will just give up.

I was just getting ready for another round of "friend" delete anyway.

Sadly I think this post will not be read by my facebook "friends".

I wonder how long it would take to get some "Candi is missing!" mail....

During a conversation today I remembered something today that I had long since forgotten.
When I was in kindergarten I had a girlfriend. I have always liked girls and when boys were in their "eww girls are gross and have cooties" phase I simply couldn't understand it.
The girls would chase the boys around the school yard at recess trying to kiss the boys in a game called "girls chase boys". I thought it was the best thing and I didn't run away at all. I let them kiss me and unfortunately that worked against me because I didn't give them the reaction they wanted so they stopped trying. I suppose secretly all the other boys knew that was the point of the game. Maybe I was ignorant or just too logical.
All of this is beside the point.

At the beginning of class everyone would sit in a circle. The girls on one half and the boys on the other half. I sat next to my GF on the girls half. I remember the boys making fun of me saying "He is a girl!" But I was thinking whats wrong them? having a girlfriend is great.
I honestly didn't understand why they thought I was strange. Boys and girls go together right?
They make a team.. Like Mommies and Daddies...

My girlfriend and I held hands and sat beside each other. That was it. She might have kissed me. I don't remember. But we never played doctor or anything like that.

There is nothing new there but what I had forgotten until today was this:

There was one problem. There was a girl in my class who was very sick. I forget what it was. I assume it was leukemia but it could have been any other disease. I do not remember clearly but I remember that she was very ill and despite being very happy she looked physically ill as well. Tolerant of things that are unusual is not a quality most children have.
So when it came time to "partner up" this poor sick girl was the last to find a partner. Of course I had my precious girlfriend and really did not have much interest in making friends with the boys in my class. One day this poor sick girl who I regretfully forget the name of had no partner. My girlfriend bravely volunteered to be her partner and held her hand as we went outside to play. And in that one action she was no longer my girlfriend. I was jealous but it was fleeting.

No words were spoken. Nothing was made clear. There was no closure.
It was just over.

Why I do not know. I did not ignore her or shun her after.. maybe the school year ended...
I remember it being explained to me by my mom that this girl was very sick.
I also seem to remember that she either had some kind of learning disability or she spoke in a strange way. But it could have just been how she looked. I do not know but there was something else odd about her in my 5 year old eyes. I remember something about a violin. Perhaps she was learning how to play.

I remember she was not in school a lot.
I also remember that after she died people tried to explain to me that she was gone or in heaven and that its ok to be sad and cry and etc etc. But at 5/6 I was not sad. I was not confused. I had no concept of what death is. I understood she was not coming back. It seemed simple to me at the time.

Grade one started and life went on.

I remember my first girlfriend's name (but will not post it here) and although I changed schools at the end of grade 2 we met again because she went to my high school. I asked her if she remembered being my girlfriend when we were 5 and she denied it ever happened. Maybe she didn`t remember.
But I think most likely she just wanted to deny it happened, perhaps she was embarrassed.

It has been a very long time.
I have not played my own original music to a paying audience for a long long long time.
Albeit last nights show was more of a practice than an actual show. We were not even on the bill (at least I wasn`t) and only one person came to actually see us because we didn`t tell anyone, and that was King`s girlfriend. We did that on purpose and perhaps that was for the best.
I find it hard to imagine it going any worse than it did. I suppose I could have been physically harmed which would have made things worse or my equipment destroyed would have also made things worse.

But as far as the show it was horrible.
Where to start.
Last night`s event was a fashion show and dance party. There were mostly DJs and it was obvious people there were well acquainted with one another and we were invaders. The audience was not negative to us. They sat quietly and watched and laughed I guess. By the end I was so mortified it all kind of blurred together.
I think they clapped but if so it was to be polite perhaps.

We were billed to play at 3am. I was told to go to the club between 6 and 9pm for sound check. However King had to work until 12am so I would be sound checking alone. So as usual I rush rush rush to make it there by 8pm only to find out there really isn`t a sound check and that they will give me one after 9.

Oh by the way, there is no PA.

Setting up my shit takes a long time and my Japanese is still shit so communicating all through this was frustrating and difficult. But I think I understand and go along with it. Turns out my set up is going to be going through the DJ mixer.....
So I set up all my shit in the DJ booth and I get sound but.. I have no idea what it sounds like. Oh and there is no sound guy because... there is no PA.

So after all that the show opens and I go back home to get my costume and make up. I return to the club and meet with King. There is more battling with staff about how things are going to work where it will be actually done.
I was trying something new with my makeup and it didnt go as planned either.
I didn`t take any photos and luckily I couldn`t find anyone to film the show with my video camera so there is little evidence that this travesty acutally took place.

We were supposed to be on stage at 3am but we didn`t go on until well after 4.
Also due to the lateness our time of 30 minutes was cut down to less than 20. So much work and stress for 15 minutes...

Anyway, once we actually got on stage it took me a while to get set up however no sound guy + dj mixer + inexperienced DJ = no sound.
So while I stood there like an idiot 3 dudes tried to figure out how to use the dj mixer to get sound from my equipment.

It seemed like an eternity however it was probably only about 10 minutes.
By this point my confidence was pretty much shot. I had to turn my stuff up to max volume just to be audible under King`s singing. However the absolute best part and highlight of the whole evening was the fact that while I thought I was having equipment failure what was actually happening was super awesome DJ dude thought it would be fun to randomly cut off and apply filters to my music during the show. Highly professional.

I remember in highschool my friends band played at a music festival and during the show the sound guy added effects at certain spots without discussing it with the band. However was really well done and awesome. It totally added to the show.

Last night was not an example of musical improv genius.

I got out of there as fast as I could.

Tomorrow is our first Official show, however it is going to be in the same club.
The organizer and staff will be completely different and I have been told there will actually be a P.A. But I am weary to say the least.
So much so that I don`t want to do it.

Bleh........

Mistakes

Despite what I say, I am still human and therefor flawed and from time to time make mistakes. Most often however these mistakes come from losing control of my sharp logical computer core and degrade back into central thinking mode. By center I mean the center of my pants.
I don't think it would come as a shock to anyone that knows me that I am pervert. However what is surprising to even myself is how instantly retarded and uselesss I become when my fancy gets tickled.

In general I do not get angry ever. I get sad and lonely and from time to time disssapointed but it generally takes something pretty big to make me actually get angry.

I remember in highschool I dated a girl that had a pretty designed hankerchief pinned to her wall. Normally I would think nothing of it except it was pinned very low on her walll in a very uncentered location. I asked her about it once and she told me that it was there to cover a hole in her wall. Upon closer inspection I could see that there was a very large hole in her wall. I assumed it was from her younger brother because he was prone to tantrums however that was not the case at alll. It was in fact from her exboyriend who punched the wall due to a case of blue balls. At the time I couldn't imagine what kind of monster would punch a whole in the wall of his girlfriends room and I was happy that she was safe and no longer with him.

However after last night I understand those feelings and although I maintained control over myself I now have an appreciation for the kind of emotional and physical turmoil that would lead to such a thing.

There is a very funny Bill Hicks joke about a similar situation. But basically I have a tip for all ladies. If you start touching a guys dick, you should be prepared to finish what you start.

Part of me wants to tell the whole story in great detail but part of me also thinks its not necessary. Suffice it to say for the first time in my life I felt sympathy for a date rapist.

It surprises me how willing some girls are to end up in a strangers bed. Its really not that safe a thing to do. You have no idea what kind of guy a dude is after meeting a guy a few times. Yet how many notches are in my bed post?

Arguably I am one of the "nice guys". However part of the reason I don't drink is certainly fear of what kind of monster might emerge if my wall was to fall down.
Perhaps the regular drunk is better equiped to deal with those demons because they spend more time with them. However that also implies I have demons that I conciously or subconciously bury which I may not even have at all.
All of this is a tangent and neither here nor there.

Now that I think about it I do not understand this girls motivation at all. She suggested we go to dinner. She suggested we go to a movie. She suggested we spend the night together and even she suggested we go to the hotel. None of it was fancy. She kissed me. She grabbed my package long before I would have normally made a move on a girl and yet the whole night it was a series of teases of her doing something and then rejecting my reaction.
It was educational but all in all a huge waste of time.

The great thing about google street view is not only can see you all of the lovely old style brothels but their patrons as well. Unfortunately when ever this photo was taken was not during business hours. Usually all of the doors are open and you can see the women that are for sale sitting patiently and not only that but the retired "mama" who waves at all men who happen to pass by and attempt to flag them in to buy whatever is for sale. Even if they are walking hand in hand with their girlfriend as I was the first time I happened to pass through the area.

Last January I met 2 girls and kind of struggled as to who to try dating.
I chose one and had her as my girlfriend for a very short time. In that short time we saw each other very little.. All of which you can read about here if you go back to January.

I tried to keep in touch with the other girl because shes really sweet and even if we didn't date its still nice to have her as a friend. However after a while she stopped returning my emails and like with most things its 3 strikes you are out. So I kind of gave up. Most people don't make it a straight cut off. They just leave you hanging. I am guilty of doing similar things but I also often tell people that I am going to stop talking to them and why.

However I bumped into the other girl today by chance and she told me she had gotten in a car accident and that her phone got fucked up because she was driving a scooter. She seemed really happy to see me and I was happy to see her as well. We talked for a while and it was really smooth and easy. I started to wonder if I had chosen the wrong girl. So I askd her when she was free and she said she would mail me.

Lets see if she does. The ball is in your court.

Tips for my future wife/girlfriend VIII

Recently I have been on several dates with different women all from different walks of life.
All have been basically fruitless for one reason or another but I have made a few observations that help me narrow down what it is I am looking for. I am willing to give almost anyone a shot, its nice to go out and you never know how people might surprise you. So unless my first impression is really strongly negative then I`m willing to giver a go.

1. Smoking is still not sexy and basically an instant disqualification. Your other areas have to be really strong for me to forget that you smoke and all that makes it gross.

2. Offer to pay. It`s really an easy thing to do. Chances are I am happy to pay and will, but the whole point is you shouldn't expect it. You should pull open your purse and fight with me about it even if you intend to lose. Obviously if we have been dating a long time that might change but for the first while taking a step back from the cash register to make room for me and my giant wallet is not cool. My first girlfriend in Taiwan was pretty good at doing that. So good that she wouldn`t even bother brining her purse with her when we went out.
One time I noticed this when we went for dinner. So as I was finishing dessert I said
"Thanks so much for buying dinner".
The look of shock on her face was priceless.
"What?" She said.
"Well I bought dinner last time so I thought you would pay this time, its fair right?"
"But I didn`t bring my purse!"
"Well I didn`t bring my wallet! What are we going to do!?"
She panicked for a while and I could see the wheels spinning in her brain.
Then I laughed and pulled out my wallet. I of course paid. Was it a cruel prank to play?
Perhaps, but I hope it made her think. You can`t and shouldn`t expect people to buy shit for you and its pretty fucked up that you do. I can imagine what kind of points I would lose if I took a step back from the cashier at pay time.
Having a boyfriend must be nice. Which also kind of brings me to today`s #3.

3. Talking.
Seeing as I am a foreigner in a foreign land, our customs and traditions are different and that means that we must both be flexible to the others culture and ways of thinking and doing things. However I am pretty sure that Japanese culture/tradition has no rules about men paying 100% of the time.

I date women with varying levels of English speaking ability. Some speak well some can`t even say the alphabet. So there is a chance that they don`t know what to say when it comes to pay pay pay pay pay money happy time time. But actions speak louder than words. At any rate during dinner or walking or whatever you should make some effort to converse. My Japanese is pretty shitty. But I will damn well try my best to speak your language as much as I can and not expect you to speak mine. However with that being said there is no reason I should be expected to make all of the conversation. If you are not really comfortable speaking then at least help me out by asking some questions. If I in turn ask you something more than a 1 word answer would be nice and flat out ignoring my presence doesn`t help. If you are unsure what I said ASK!. I am happy to repeat what I said in whatever language I can say it in.

3. Eye contact. Its good. Try it.

4. I get it, your ex was shitty. You need to talk about it? Fine. I am happy to help and give any advice you might need. But do not tell me about how shitty he is and how you are so happy to be rid of him for hours and then get back together with him a week later. Thats not really a tip for my future anything because apparently you are no longer in the market, but I know MANY people both male and female who have broken up with their partner and then come to me crying about how shitty they were and how horribly they were treated by the partner and then end up having a night of passion and congrats now you have a baby together with the person who made you spew so much venom such a short while ago.

5. Its a penis. Try touching it.
If it gets to the point where you are looking at my penis, you have my permission to touch it.

6. Make that second step. It is pretty rare from my experience for Asian women in Asia to be aggressive as far as asking for a mans number or whatever you kids exchange nowadays (get off my lawn you little wankers! Give him the stick.... DONT GIVE HIM THE STICK!). But seeing as I am now famous enough for strangers to stop me on the street and say OH CANDIMAN! I have also gotten a few women ask for my email address or Mixi name etc. However if you have the balls (yes in this case women have balls) to ask me for me for my contact info why the fuck would you then not use it? The other day I met this girl who was really outgoing. She tried speaking broken English as much as possible which seemed to consist mostly of catch phrases from movies (lets go baby, etc) and even hugged me twice for no apparent reason. However like many before her, now that she has gotten my contact info she has failed to use it in anyway. There is a pretty good chance that the average women upon seeing my photos or collection of hobbies/interests would lose desire to talk to me but the people that I meet at events etc would be pretty aware of all of it I think.

Thats all I can think of at the moment. Until part 9, be well.

S&M culture in Japan seems to be more popular than in any other country I have been to. While I am no expert I certainly have more experience than people in my peergroup. Despite this I still have questions and the are lots of things I do not understand. For example when one has a slave is it not also possible to treat them well at times outside of the bedroom? A musician would horribley abuse their prized instrument onstage only to polish it and baby it after the show and then return it to its case to protect it.
I am sure that is a matter of preference to each person. Some people require 24/7 control others want such things limited to special times only.

Does an owner not discipline its pet when it missbehaves but then later give it treats, play fetch, and scratch its belly and take joy in knowing it is pleasing said pet?

However I can easily imagine a girl getting angry if her man tried to control her in public. I can also easily imagine a masochist getting equally frustrated by her master showing her care and concern.

"drive Not Ready"

Since I first started using a computer for entertainment I have been using winamp to play music.
I still do and I am right now. I have flirted with a few other programs but in the end I always come back to winamp to listen to music.

Recently I have been getting a drive Not Ready error over and over and over. I would click continue or ignore or cancel but the error message would pop back up.

I tried uninstalling upgrading and removing plug-ins nothing seemed to help.

However while looking in the device manager I noticed my PC had a FLOPPY drive listed in the devices despite the fact my PC has no floppy drive. I disabled the drive and BOOM the error is gone. I am only posting this for future reference and in case some other poor sap has the same annoyance.

When I woke up this morning my underwear was on inside out.

This particular underwear has a very busy and vibrant pattern where as the inside is just plain red. I know that when putting them on yesterday there were right side out. However when I woke up this morning I was very surprised to see that I was wearing red underwear because I don't own any. Then I realized that I was simply wearing my underwear inside out.

How that happened I have no idea. As far as I know I did not wake up in the night and go to the bathroom. I live alone at the moment and my door is locked.

I have seen people sleep walk before but I have never heard of this.
