Miami Law Student Receives $3,000 Diversity Scholarship

 Provided to Miami Law)Tara Lovings, a second-year Miami Law student, has been chosen to receive the Constangy, Brooks & Smith Diversity Scholars Award for the Southern region. The award, which recognizes law students who own demonstrated academic achievement and a commitment to difference in their society or school, will provide Lovings accompanied by a $3,000 scholarship.

"I am thankful for this present with and stirred for the recognition by one of the nation's summit employment law firms," Lovings said. "I am humbled to own been selected from the applicants who applied to Constangy, Brooks & Smith's Diversity Scholar Award. This present with encourages me to continue to turn up ways to contribute to my society and to a focus on difference in Florida, my new home."

 

Lovings, who hails from San Francisco, Calif., is the president of the Asian Pacific American Law Students Association at Miami Law. She has and been a associate of the Labor & Employment Law Students Association, as well as Miami Law Women.

Prior to attending Miami Law, Lovings worked as an account executive in Dallas, Texas. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Phoenix and has spent the past nine years volunteering at soup kitchens, homeless shelters, HIV/AIDS services and other society projects.

"Prior to law school, I had a powerful focus on difference in my work as a litigation support sales consultant," Lovings said. "In Dallas, I was the sole seller to support all of the minority public house associations through membership, sponsorship, and/or involvement for the four years prior to law school."

Constangy, Brooks & Smith is a labor and employment law firm. It received the Exceptional Service Award presented by the Georgia Diversity Program of the State Bar of Georgia, and maintains a Diversity Council comprised of attorneys from across its offices to address issues and promote difference within the firm. The solid created the Diversity Scholars Award in 2006.
